Preciosa

When you are part of a diaspora all of the sudden things have more value, old photos of a favorite restaurant, my grandparents’ front yard, or fridge magnets. Even the most basic items from our old home become treasured keepsakes and tangible connections to places that are not the same and may only exist now in this handful of photos or keepsakes. In a world that so strongly wants to deny you a place, they take you back to a place you didn’t even realize was so precious.
